Light, atmosphere, beauty and mystery are the elements that draw Dave Gordon to the landscape. Neutral tone, sepia and occasionally muted color, everything is kept simple and evokes a sense of stillness and quiet contemplation. For Dave, it is not about documenting the landscape as it exists most of the time but rather to allow those rare moments to speak to something inside ourselves that goes beyond the literal document. His photographic journey began 25 years ago with a 35mm camera and color film. Within a short time he discovered the magic of a black and white print emerging in the developer tray and for a long timeworked exclusively in the black and white medium. Over the years, many books, workshops, seminars and college courses provided inspiration and guidance along the way. A few years ago, he traded the darkroom for the computer and now works exclusively with the digital medium. He also enjoys street photography and often explores the streets of Boston and Providence for images. He is a member of the Attleboro Museum, the Fuller Craft Museum, the Artists Circle as well as the Silver Circle and N Plus One photo groups.
